SUMMARY: Plans and manages all marketing for three Retail divisions, and three retail Internet sites, to drive traffic into stores, and repeat traffic onto the web. Contributes to building multi-channel marketing strategy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Creatively develops and implements tactical marketing plans, including: marketing events, print and radio advertising, web marketing and customer promotion suggestions, to increase retail store and web sales..
  • Ensures alignment of web marketing and Retail marketing.
  • Generates company-wide retail advertising, promotional, and events calendars for each market.
  • Negotiates advertising and promotional events contracts. Ensures all ads are delivered on time.
  • Maintains and manages relationships with advertising vendors and all promotional event contacts.
  • Works with VP of Retail & Marketing to develop annual budget plans for each division.
  • Develops estimated costs, submits proposed final budget, tracks budget statistics, and prepares management reporting. Provides recaps of all events, costs, sales, and results.
  • Tracks monthly expenditures vs. budget, and provides monthly feedback for all contractual commitments.
  • Works collaboratively with Graphics Design and Visual Merchandising to develop and implement the monthly floor set strategy and marketing plan. Assists in creation of internal and external promotional pieces.
  • Works collaboratively with District Managers on development and execution of ‘grass roots’ marketing opportunities for each store.
  • Partners with Buying / Merchandising on promotional and marketing ideas and opportunities.
  • Coordinates all details for booth events including: communication with event coordinator(s) (regarding registration, payments, etc.), compiling booth materials (product giveaways, customer promotions, etc.), and booth set up and take down.
  • Manages regional ordering and distribution of all branded giveaway products. Develops new and effective giveaways to maximize Peekay brand at all external events.
  • Coordinates with Secret Shopping Service on monthly Secret Shops. Maintains reporting through shopping service as well as internal spreadsheets.
  • Manages all Retail donations of product and buckets. Communicates with stores and charities on approval, selection, and inventory adjustments through accounting.
  • Manages all coupon ordering and distribution to regions and stores. Evaluates redemption to ensure marketing effectiveness.
  • Manages details of all Grand Opening, Grand Re-openings, and store closures as it relates to marketing.
  • Generates and manages all retail press releases to trade publications, newspapers, and radio stations for all store openings, closures, and other relevant events.
  • Seeks out opportunities to market Peekay, Inc. through editorial opportunities.
  • Maintains a library and/or log of all past and current printed material and radio advertising
  • Maintains and develops monthly internal Muzak commercials.
  • Maintains relationships with all local Chamber of Commerce.
  • Determines appropriates responses to problems and emergencies within scope of responsibilities.
  • Provides project status updates to include appropriate corporate communication.
  • Travel to local marketing events
  • Requires some weekend and evening hours to oversee offsite and in-store store marketing events

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Retail store experience and / or retail marketing experience required. Three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of college education and experience. Bachelor’s degree desired.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write speeches and marketing documents using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, employees of the organization, and top management.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Ability to compute rate, discounts, interest, and percent.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables only limited standardized situations.

COMPUTER SKILLS
Knowledge and skills in PC operation using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet and email; knowledge of coordination of schedules through MS Outlook required. Also requires ability to learn some in-house software programs: Illustrator, Photo Shop, InDesign, Adobe Acrobat.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Up to 25% of the time may be spent traveling. During travel noise levels may vary.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Requires consistent access to reliable transportation for the purpose of commuting on short notice to multiple stores or local events within assigned district or region.
