Under direction from the Director - Buying, as our new DVD Buyer you will be responsible for…
- Ensure proper DVD merchandise quantities, selection and pricing for retail, wholesale, internet, trade shows and new store openings
- Ensure proper Book and Magazine merchandise quantities, selection and pricing for retail, wholesale, internet, trade shows and new store openings
- Receive, evaluate, process and preview new releases
- Handle all vendor issues relating to the department
- Negotiate pricing, displays, "freebies", terms, discounts, grand opening offers, samples, etc.
- Responsible for writing monthly articles for the department and company publications
- Review physical inventories for shrinkage control in the department
- Visit store locations for review, presentation, staff feedback, merchandising input, signage
- Ensure proper inventory needs for promotions and spiffs

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous retail, wholesale, or industry experience will be highly considered.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Inventory software; MS EXCEL and MS WORD.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
Other skills and abilities: Ability to work alone or as a team member; Ability to work varied hours/days including occasional overtime during peak sales periods; Ability to multitask.
Other qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age. Requires consistent access to reliable transportation for the purpose of commuting on short notice to stores within assigned district/region.
